rca graduate seongyong lee has come up with a way to make tubes out of wood veneers. made in a way similar to how cardboard tubes are made, they are very light but very strong. i think the possibilities are endless, and like dan said when he forwarded me to this 'i can't believe no one came up with this before'.

it's one thing coming up with the material, but the furniture he's made is really nice too. and you can see in the image below what a clean finish he has achieved on the joins. and as he mentions, the hollow tubes can be used to pass things like power cables through too.
