this wifi-blocking wallpaper was developed by the institut polytechnique de grenoble in france along with the centre technique du papier, and is licensed to finland’s high performance materials specialist, ahlstrom. available in 2013, it will be the first commercially available product of it's kind.
it's an interesting material innovation that i'm sure will find more uses than the first that come to mind, such as in hospitals or airplanes, where signals could be potentially disruptive. as the decoration can differ whilst still having the same function, i'm sure it won't be long before textile designers are designing new patterns of their own.
